Printable 2027 Reading Tracker: Free Reading Log and Goal Sheet

Some people like a screen, and some people like a pen and a piece of paper stuck on the fridge. If you're in the second group, this page is for you. Below is a simple reading tracker you can print and fill in by hand: a space for your yearly goal, a month-by-month tally, and a log with room for 40 books.

To print just the tracker, use the button above. The explanation on this page is left out of the printout, so you get the goal sheet and the log on their own pages.

How to use it

  1. Fill in your goal first. If you're not sure what number to pick, our guide to how many books to read in a year works it out from the time you actually have.
  2. Log a book the day you finish it. Title, author, date, and a rating while it's fresh. It takes thirty seconds and it's much harder to do from memory later.
  3. Tally at the end of each month. Fill in the month-by-month table and note your favourite. Doing this monthly shows you early whether you're ahead or behind.
  4. Pick a theme if you want one. A plain count works fine, but a theme gives the log more shape. Try the 12-genre challenge, or choose from our 12 reading challenge ideas for 2027.

Paper or app?

Paper is satisfying, and there's something nice about crossing off a row. The downside is that it doesn't add things up for you, it can't show you a streak, and it's easy to lose by March. If you'd like the same thing without the maintenance, FolioStory's Reading Challenges track your annual or monthly goal automatically as you log books, with progress bars and a proper celebration when you hit your target. Plenty of people use both: the app for the numbers, and the paper sheet as a visible reminder.

Prefer it to track itself?
